The Task Stack Method: How to Stay Focused Without Burning Out
By ListoCheck · Published Oct 22, 2025
Not all tasks are created equal. Some require deep focus, others just need a quick click. If you treat every task the same, you’ll burn out fast—or waste your best energy on the wrong things.
The Task Stack Method helps you organize your day by energy level, so you can stay productive without draining yourself.
The 3 Levels of the Stack
Level 1: Deep Focus Tasks
These require concentration, creativity, or problem-solving. Do them when your energy is highest.
- Writing a proposal
- Debugging complex code
- Designing a new feature
Level 2: Medium-Energy Tasks
These are productive but less mentally demanding. Great for mid-day or post-lunch hours.
- Responding to emails
- Updating documentation
- Reviewing feedback
Level 3: Low-Energy Tasks
These are routine or mechanical. Save them for when your brain needs a break.
- Organizing files
- Cleaning up your workspace
- Archiving completed tasks
How to Use the Stack
- Label each task by energy level
- Start your day with Level 1 tasks
- Shift to Level 2 and 3 as your energy dips
- Reorder your list in ListoCheck to reflect your stack
